Molde

Molde - city of roses and jazz.

Molde, fondly called the city of roses for the way they flourish in the mild climate that this town benefits from, is located on the Romsdal peninsula. It is built on a middle-ages trading post and later became the centre of textiles commerce. Modern-day Molde is the administrative centre for the region and the capital of the province of Møre and Romsdal.

From the home mountain, the Varden, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Romsdalsalps with more than 200 peaks to see. The most known is Romsdalshornet which is 1550 meters above sea level.

Molde does not only offer a charming city center with shops, cafes and sights like the dome and the Romsdal museum but also a wide range of outdoor sporting activities like hiking and skiing. Also the annual Jazz festival which is held in July attrackts 100.000 people every year. More than half of around 140 concerts are free to visit and not only Jazz but also Rock, Pop and Blues can be enjoyed.

From Molde you have the possibility to visit the Atlantic Ocean Road, one of and if not the most famous road in norway.
